The things people ask before they report.
- Do I have to give my name?
- No. Your name, email and phone are all optional and a report is assessed exactly the same way without them. If you give an email we send your reference number to it, and nothing else.
- Will the person I report find out it was me?
- We do not tell anyone that a report has been made, and we do not pass your details to the person you report. If you leave your name out, we do not have it to give. Reports carry no IP address, no device details and no location, and photographs have their location data removed before they are stored.
- Am I protected by law if I report someone?
- No. Kenya has no whistleblower protection statute. The Whistleblower Protection Bill of 2023 lapsed in Parliament in 2025 and was never enacted. We keep your details out of the system as far as we can, but we cannot offer you a protection that does not exist. Do not report from a work device or a work network.
- What happens to my report?
- A named reviewer at COFEK reads it. If it needs more detail they leave a question for you, which you can answer by entering your reference number on the tracking page. If it is credible it is referred to five bodies at once: COFEK, Elimika Mashinani Trust, the Commission for University Education, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and the Kenya National Qualifications Authority.
- Do you check whether the qualification is fake?
- No. This site does not verify anything and makes no findings. It collects what citizens know and routes it to the bodies that can check it. KNQA runs the National Qualifications Database and is the body that can confirm whether an award exists.
- Will you publish the name of the person I report?
- Never. The public page shows counts by county and by sector only, and withholds any figure small enough to identify a person. No name, organisation or allegation is ever published on this site.
- I have lost my reference number. Can you find my report?
- No. We store only a keyed hash of the number, not the number itself, so we genuinely cannot look it up. That is the same reason nobody else can find your report either. If it is lost, please send a fresh report.
- Who can I report?
- People who hold public office, and people standing for it. Reports about private citizens are closed without action.
- What if someone reports me and they are wrong?
- Nothing about you is published, so there is nothing public to correct. If you learn of a report and believe it is wrong, the right of reply form puts your account on the file, and a reviewer reads it before anything is sent onward.
- Does this site track me?
- No. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel and no third-party script anywhere on the site. The content security policy blocks every external origin, so the browser will refuse to load one even by mistake.
