Complaints
If we have handled your data badly, this is how to say so.
Regulation 58 of the Data Protection (General) Regulations, 2021 lets anyone who is unhappy with a data controller take the matter to the Data Commissioner. You are entitled to do that at any point. We would rather you came to us first, because we can usually fix things faster than a regulator can.
How to complain to us
Write to dpo@reportfakedegrees.co.ke. Tell us what happened and what you would like done. You do not need to use any particular form of words.
If your complaint concerns a specific report and you are the person who made it, include your reference number. If you do not have it, we cannot connect your complaint to a report, though we can still deal with the complaint itself.
What we do with it
- We acknowledge it within five working days.
- The data protection officer looks into it and answers within fourteen days, which is the period the Regulations set for most data subject requests.
- If we need longer, we tell you why and when to expect an answer, rather than going quiet.
- If we got it wrong, we say so, we say what we have changed, and we tell you whether the incident was reportable to the Data Commissioner.
If you are still not satisfied
You may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner. Doing so does not require our permission and does not affect anything else.
If you were reported and want to respond
That is a different thing from a complaint about data handling, and it has its own route: the right of reply form places your account on the file where a reviewer will see it.
